Pinay Travels to Manila: Thanks Cebu Pacific

November 22-24 was slated for a Manila trip that is the reason why i filed for a leave for those days.  The 22 was flight in day and the 24th was flight out.  To measure the time, we just really had 1 full day in Manila.  It was so short to cover up all the places we plan to cover and to do all the things we want to do.  But then, even if not all were done but the things that happened was really a blast! The PMC 2nd Grand Eyeball which was attended by 50 mommies was  held at Aling Tonya's Restaurant. We went there directly from the airport.  Aling Tonya's is located at Macapagal drive with Claire Dela Fuente as the venue marker.  Thanks to those beautiful ladies who met us up at the airport with a driver that knows the place, so the trip was quicker than expected. Mommies who attended the event had a great time and had a bit hard time going home with lots of token and loot bags. Lake Apo: The Plan and the Visit

Image
The first time I saw Lake Apo in the Facebook account of the owner, Dr. Almer Alfonso, I said to myself, I am going there.  So I clicked Like on the photo and then later ask Dr. Almer how to get there.  Summer was over and first semester started and I still can't put into my schedule a trip to Bukidnon.  I desired to see the place alone.  But then thinking it would be more fun to have company, I tagged the photo to my fellow Iligan blogger, Pinay Travelista .  I am betting she got a mole on her foot thus her travel blog.   Indeed she agreed to make me realize my wish without a second thought.  We thought we could make it last August during the last weekend where Iligan enjoyed a long weekend.   But Dr. Almer was on vacation in the US.  September made us really busy for the planning of the coming MBS5 so the plan was put aside to an unknown schedule. Before September ended, I know I am going to make the plan a reality.  I shared the plan with fellow Iligan bloggers and invited ever

Eating Right Even On a Travel

Image
Even before I arrived MVC, I was told dinner Thursday night will be at a friend's home.  Apple and Carthie cooked something nice (semi-vegetarian) as they have an idea that I was on diet watch.  I am not on diet, I was just trying to cut on my rice intake. Confession:  I ate rice and meta from Saturday dinner until Sunday dinner.  Not one whole plate but at least more or less a cup serving except when we had dinner at Atiatihan where we enjoyed a chicken barbecue.  Never had that in a long time  so I gave myself an excuse.  I know I have gained back some pounds during the whole trip. Anyway, here's a closer glimpse of the food we had that Thursday night: Romanian Salad Adobong Fish Paksiw Fried Lumpia (vegetarian fillinga) Yummy Durian ^^ Food is great with friends.  Thanks Ma'am Apple and Ma'am Carthy for the sumptuous meal.  Iliganon jud!  Sa uulitin ha. ~~~~~ It's been awhile since I posted entry for Yummy Sunday.  Since I am making this post now in this blog and

Weekend at the College Heights

Image
Mountain View College is located in Valencia City, Bukidnon.  It is not very far from Iligan City but due to time and sometimes finances, getting there or spending time there is treated a luxury.  The last time I visited the campus was in December 2009 when my daughter joined the NMC-wide Pathfinder camping.  And to think of it, I only had a day to go around the familiar nooks of the campus. The latest visit allowed me to stay a full two days because I attended the re-opening program of DxCR on October 6, a Thursday.  I am not in the right position to question why the program falls on a Thursday instead I made it a point that I can take a leave that day.  Thinking that it would be a hassle to travel back after the program, so I filed a two days leave (Thursday and Friday) to really enjoy the campus, my home for almost five years.  As the day draws nearer, I made up my mind to visit some spots, where me and my friends used to hang around when we were still students. I find myself in the

Back Online!

The last post I made was Thursday morning before I went up to my second destination but the first major destination during the 2 days leave from my work.  My tattoo was loaded but the signal was  very scarce up there that it takes eternity for a page to upload so I was not able to make even a single post during the past 3 days.   But in-between work today and tomorrow and the whole week, I hope I can series my travel related posts because I I really had a wonderful experience.  Somehow by sharing it here, you too will take time to visit the places that I visited the past days. I would like to extend special and heartfelt thanks to Em and family for waking up at 1 am to open the church gate for me and offered your couch for me to sleep on, the hearty breakfast,  before proceeding to MVC.  To Apple and family for the accommodation especially jabby's room  and the delicious meals.  To Carthy - thanks for the dinner! I felt so special.  The gesture makes me want to go back sooner.   To

Tuesday Travels {Wet September} : IBS Buddies @ Tinago Falls

Image
These are my friends enjoying a quick swim at Tinago Falls. I have so many reasons why I was not in that floater with them. At least I got my camera with me to keep me occupied or else I'd sulk in the corner of the big rocks and drool at their shouts and glees. All of them are bloggers - this place, Tinago Falls was the last stop of our Triangle Tour held last August 7, 2011. I am inviting all my friends that if you come to see Iligan, you should not miss visiting this place.  This is also the same falls in the latest movie of Sam Milbey and KC Conception's Forever in a Day.   An entry for:

Sidlak Iligan City!

Image
Iliganon ka?  Bring home a friend. Even if you are not -- you are still welcome to bring a friend.  We  would love to see you witness and enjoy the colorful Diyande Festival with us.  September is the thanksgiving month in honor  of Iligan Saint Patron, St. Michael  This year's fiesta slogan is SIDLAK ILIGAN. Personally, the slogan speaks so much being an Iliganon.  Sidlak means SHINE so I feel that it is now a high time for Iliganons to shine.  I know they've been shining in the past years, but this year is going to be different.   This year will be a much brighter shine for the city.    This is also going be a different year for me.  I was born in this City of Many Waterfalls but I can say that I am a stranger to my own hometown.  My family have our permanent residence here but in my 39 years, I had 6 or 7 residences during my schooling years and working years in other places.  I came back in 2005 without a thought that I would permanently stay.  But beginning last year, I s

Tuesday Travels (Local Food): Shells

Image
I never thought that this "toy shells" to me is food to the locals.  Honestly, I really dunno how to eat shells and I don't ever had an idea what it tastes like.  That is why when I saw this plateful of shells, I asked the owner who was axing coconuts, if I can have some shells for my collection.  And he said, they are still filled and it is going to be their viand that morning.   That explains why it is placed in a plate.  I was taken by surprise but laugh it out later.  My friends teased me for being so ignorant that shells like these are food.  When it's empty, that's the time it can become a toy. This food was taken in one of the barrio in Cabilao Island, Loon, Bohol during our trip in April 2008. An entry for:

Triangle Tour: NPC Nature Park

Image
This post is a next part to my post, Triangle Post: Iligan City's Military Camp . It is not my first time to come into the campus of NPC's Nature Park.  The last time last February and we went in to see the Maria Cristina Falls only.  But for now, if you visit Iligan City and decided to visit this Nature Park then that is a Plus 1 because of the Maria Cristina Falls. The Nature is our second itinerary last August 7.  The park is situated inside the compound of the Agus 7.    To get in, one must register at the gate and pay the corresponding fee if you belong to the category you can see in the photo.  Effective July last year, everyone who comes in register and pays.  But those who comes in for business transaction like suppliers, then they are exempted of the fee.  The park is open 7 days a week from 9 am until 4 pm. The place is really not far from my place, but long time back (am an Iliganon) it is not easy to visit the compound anytime.  A group can come in if you an approv

Triangle Tour: Iligan City's Military Camp

Image
The Iligan Bloggers Society members had a once-in-a blue moon experience when they went out on a Familiarization Tour called the Tourism Triangle last Sunday, August 2011. The group left Jollibee Aguinaldo branch on time at 8:00 AM and the first stop was at the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Light Armor Division of the Philippine Army situated in Barangay Maria Cristina of this city.   Just like most of us in the11-heads group, it was my first time to visit a military camp.  That is why I felt so lucky to be part of the group. ~~The US just before the take off ~~ Funny me, I had some expectations on the outward appearance of the campus maybe because i watched too much movies with war stories.  I was expecting a very lustrous green landscaped lawn and beautiful buildings.  I don't mean that they have shabby homes or buildings but thinking that it is a military camp, an army camp, a protectors camp, I just expect that they deserve better than what i saw.  Anyway, this thought is jus
